About MeI'm a mother of two grown daughters, and I have two grandsons. I have many years of experience as a caregiver in Trinidad, caring for my mother and other elderly neighbors. I moved to New York many years ago to be closer to my daughter, who was attending medical school at the time. My first client in New York was a woman with Alzheimer's disease who required a special level of supervision and care. My goal was to help her to be as independent as possible while safeguarding her physically. I realized that I really enjoyed this type of personal, one-on-one care, and that I am good at it. I truly enjoy being with people, especially elderly people. I bring an atmosphere of calm and quiet to wherever I work. You will see that when you meet me. That is a strength of mine. In my spare time, I like to read a lot and listen to music.
" I have known Valerie for more than 10 years, as a close friend and colleague, and I am very pleased to endorse her. I was first introduced to Valerie when she was the Home Health Aide for my mother, seven years ago. She is very loyal and extremely dedicated. She is one of the most disciplined and punctual persons I have ever known. Her heightened ability to work efficiently under stressful conditions and nerve-wracking deadlines speak volumes about her determination and composed demeanor. I would like to add that Valerie is a compassionate human being. She makes an extra effort to bring a smile to the faces of all who she interacts with. For all these reasons, I highly recommend her."

" I'm writing to certify that Valerie has worked for our family for the past nine years. In that time she provided elder care for my mother as well as worked as a caregiver for our younger children. She was responsible for assisting my mother with personal care activities including: bathing, skin care, grooming, dressing/undressing, feeding, oral hygiene, and bedtime care. Valerie also maintained a clean, safe, comfortable, and healthy environment for my mother. She is good at engaging in respectful social interactions, including friendly conversation and empathetic support. Valerie also provided care for our children which included bathing, reading to the them, and providing supervision. Valerie has a very personable nature. She is always pleasant and looks for ways to be helpful. She works well with our family and has a good sense of humor. She is a hard-working, reliable, and a very professional person. I highly recommend Valerie."
